Clothing:

You don’t need any specialised clothing for trampolining but it is important that what you wear allows you to move freely and has no toggles, buckles, buttons or anything that could get caught in the trampoline or cause you injury.

We suggest -

  • Tracksuit bottoms or shorts
  • T-shirt
  • Non-slip socks

Long hair should be tied back.

Accessories:

Before you begin you must remove any items that could be dangerous on the trampoline.

This includes -

  • Jewellery - necklaces, bracelets, rings etc.
  • Piercings - including pendant earrings and body piercings. If your piercing is permanent or difficult to remove you can put tape or a bandage over it.
  • Loose items from your pockets

Warm-up and stretching:

In order to prevent injury it is important that you have properly warmed up and stretched before getting on the trampoline. Our Club Rep or one of our coaches will bring you through a warm-up at the start of the session but if you miss this one of us will be happy to go through it with you. Just ask. The warm-up continues on the trampoline with a 1 minute warm-up go where you should go through some basic moves.

Spotting:

While waiting for your go your job is to spot i.e. stand close to the side of the trampoline to guard against the person on the trampoline falling off. You MUST NOT start bouncing until there are spotters on both sides of the bed. You shouldn’t leave the side of the bed unless there will sufficient people left to spot.

Coaching:

Our coaches will be there to bring you through all the various moves. All coaching is individual so you can come to as many or as few sessions as you like and learn at your own pace. Don’t try any new moves unless the coach thinks you are ready and listen to their instructions.

Setting-up and putting away:

It would be great if everyone could help set-up and put away the trampolines and other equipment. It may seem like a daunting task but our more experienced members and our coaches will be happy to show you how it’s done. Even if you don’t feel confident in handling the trampolines there are plenty of mats that need to be moved!

And remember it’s never too late in the year to start so come along and try it!
